Amaral has also served in the Brazilian government, including as Secretary of Social Communication and spokesman for President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, and Minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, executive secretary to the Ministry for the Environment, and chairman of the Foreign Trade Council of Ministers (CAMEX) and the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES).

In the private sector, he has served as a member of the board of directors of AES Eletropaulo and Tietê, as well as on the boards of French companies Total and Plastic Omnium.

Thomas Benes Felsberg, founding partner of Felsberg Advogados, said Amaral joins the firm at an opportune time and will be invaluable in the firm’s agenda of expanding its cross-border work and roster of clients.
