Bruchou adds two partners, promotes two more

Argentinian law firm Bruchou, Fernández Madero y Lombardi has appointed Paula Fernández Pfizenmaier and Dámaso A. Pardo as partners to the intellectual property, data privacy, new technologies and legal advertising department, and promoted two lawyers to partner in its tax and administrative law practices.

Their incorporation aims to boost this area of practice with a team offering outstanding professional performance, addressing the increasing challenges and needs of clients in their business relationships, the law firm said in a statement.

Paula (pictured) graduated from Universidad Católica Argentina, and worked as lawyer in the intellectual property department at a major firm in Buenos Aires for more than a decade. She then became partner and head of the IP area at Randle Legal law firm. Paula has more than 15 years of experience in intellectual property and legal publicity matters and is also regional vice president of the Global Advertising Lawyers Alliance.

Dámaso (also pictured) graduated from the Universidad Católica Argentina and obtained a master’s degree in Intellectual Property from the University of New Hampshire – Franklin Pierce School of Law.

He has practiced intellectual property law in some of the most renowned law firms in Buenos Aires and also held the position of president of the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), the Argentininian Patent and Trademark Office. During that period, he represented Argentina in the team that negotiated the trade agreements between Mercosur, the EU, Canada, and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

His incorporation to the firm marks his return to the private sector.

Both are recognised professionals in their area of practice, with vast experience advising national and international clients on intellectual and industrial property matters, particularly in contracts and litigation, copyright, advertising and legal marketing, personal data protection and new technologies.

“The strengthening of the IP department is part of the firm’s strategy to provide clients with world-class services in all and each one of the different practice areas,” Hugo Bruzone, chairman of Bruchou, said. 

“After leaving my position as president of the INPI, I saw in Bruchou the best platform to resume my professional activity,” Dámaso said.

“I felt completely at ease leading the practice at Randle Legal, with whom I am very grateful,” Paula said. “Although I was not looking for a change, I was driven in part by the idea to return to work along with Dámaso, with whom I worked for more than 10 years, and on the other hand, to join a firm with the standing and excellence such as Bruchou.“

In addition to the incorporation of the new partners, the firm has also promoted Nicolás Nogueira Castellini to partner of the tax department, and Juan Antonio Zocca to expert counsel of the administrative law department.

Nicolás specialises in tax litigation (national, provincial and municipal) and tax advice. His designation reinforces the tax area, which will be led by five specialist partners.

Juan Antonio specialises in complex litigation matters, and in administrative law advice, in particular in issues related to contracts, public services, hydrocarbons, mining, telecommunications, transport, foreign exchange infractions, among other regulatory matters.

Both started their careers at the firm as interns in the information and training centre, and have developed their entire careers at Bruchou.
