Bruchou advises Werthein Group on acquisition of DirecTV Latin America

Bruchou, Fernández, Madero & Lombardi has assisted Werthein Group in a deal to purchase AT&T’s Vrio Corp. business unit

 Bruchou, Fernández, Madero & Lombardi has advised Grupo Werthein on the deal for the acquisition of Vrio Corp. (DIRECTV Latin America, SKY Brasil and DIRECTV GO) from AT&T, where the firm led the coordination of first level studies in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Trinidad and Tobago, Curaçao and Barbados.

Werthein Group, a privately held holding company with more than 100 years of history and regional and international presence, with expertise in telecommunications, financial markets, insurance, agricultural production and real estate, has now acquired, subject to customary closing conditions, 100% of the equity of Vrio, a leading digital entertainment services company with 10.3 million subscribers in 11 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Vrio’s broadband operations, along with other investments such as Torneos y Competencias in Argentina and WIN Sports in Colombia, will be transferred to the Werthein Group upon closing of the transaction.

Vrio offers live and On Demand content services, providing high quality entertainment including sporting events, international content and exclusive programming. Vrio’s infrastructure includes satellites and state-of-the-art transmission centres, enabling the delivery of a wide variety of content to the home in 4k format.
