BSVV on acquisition of Benchmark Genetics by Novo Holdings

Barros Silva Varela & Vigil was part of the international group of lawyers advising Novo Holdings on its agreement to acquire Norwegian fish genetics company Benchmark Genetics from Benchmark Holdings for up to £260 million.

The transaction is expected to complete during the first quarter of 2025, subject to shareholder approval and receipt of certain regulatory approvals.

Based in Bergen, Norway, Benchmark Genetics is a leader in salmonid genetics, providing eggs and other genetic services to both traditional and land-based fish farmers, operating in Norway, Iceland, Faroe Islands, Chile and other major geographies.

Novo Holdings was advised globally by the London office of Latham & Watkins.
