Carey acts in Codelco’s $900m bond issue and sale

Carey has acted as Chilean counsel to Codelco in a US$900 million, 10-year, Regulation 144A/Reg S. bond issue and sale, with an interest rate of 5.125% and maturity in 2033.

This transaction, closed on February 2, involved the jurisdictions of Chile and the United States (New York), where Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton acted as advisor to Codelco in the United States. Meanwhile, Garrigues and Linklaters acted as advisors to the initial purchasers in Chile and the United States, respectively.

BNP Paribas, Bank of America, Banco Santander, and Scotia Capital (USA) acted as the initial purchasers.

Nicola Possekel Reichert acted as in-house counsel to Codelco.

Cleary Gottlieb’s team consisted of partner Duane McLaughlin, associate Sofia Sequeira Murillo, and international lawyers Lara Gómez Tomei and Javier Illanes Donoso.

Linklaters’ team included partner Conrado Tenaglia, counsel Alejandro Gordano, associate Juan Mata and foreign attorney Manuel José Eyzaguirre.
