Carey advises BNP Paribas Cardif on Scotiabank alliance
Chilean law firm Carey advised BNP Paribas Cardif, the insurance unit of BNP Paribas, on a 15-year strategic partnership with Scotiabank to develop protection and insurance solutions to be distributed to Scotiabank’s 12 million customers in Latin America.
The solutions will be offered to clients through Scotiabank’s channels in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru.
The law firm also advised on an agreement to purchase Scotia Seguros de Vida entered into with Nova Scotia Inversiones, a Scotiabank subsidiary, and the Said family.
Carey acted as Chilean counsel to BNP Paribas Cardif, while Willkie Farr & Gallagher acted as international counsel to BNP Paribas Cardif, Mijares acted as counsel to BNP Paribas Cardif in Mexico, and Torys as international counsel to Scotiabank, while PPU acted as Chilean counsel to Scotiabank, and law firm Claro acted as Chilean counsel to the Said family.
Carey partners Salvador Valdés (pictured), Matías Vergara and Lorena Pavic led the team, with associates Arturo Poblete, Carla Karzulovic, Jorge Soto, Gabriela García, Roberto Villaseca, Tamara Feliú and José Pardo.
