Carey advises Falabella on purchase of Tottus
Carey has represented Falabella in the purchase of the remaining 10.4% stake in Hipermercados Tottus
Carey has advised Falabella, through its subsidiaries Dinalsa and Inversiones Parmin, on the purchase of a 10.4% stake in Hipermercados Tottus, owned by the Leyton family, totalling 100% ownership of the company.
In this transaction, closed on 23 December, Barros y Errázuriz (B&E) acted as counsel to the Leyton family.
Falabella is a Chilean department stores’ founded in 1889, belonging to the Falabella group. It currently has branches in Chile, Peru and Colombia.
Tottus currently has 71 shops in Chile, distributed in 9 regions.
Falabella had an in-house counsel team made up of lawyers Javier Allard and Solange González.
B&E’s team consisted of partner Emilio Vásquez and associate María Paulina Eyzaguirre.
Carey’s team was led by partner Cristián Eyzaguirre (pictured left), assisted by associates Giannina Veniú (pictured top right) and Sofía Beckdorf (pictured bottom right).
