Carey counsels Acciona Energía Chile on wind farm financing
Chilean law firm Carey advised Acciona Energía Chile on a credit line for up to $27 million granted by Banco Santander to finance the VAT of its San Gabriel wind farm.
The 183-megawatt wind farm is currently under construction in Chile’s Araucanía region and is slated to enter operations in 2020.
Carey’s team was led by partner Felipe Moro Vargas and associates Fernando Noriega, José Luis Enberg, associate and Nadia Jara Astudillo. Acciona’s in-house lawyer Felipe Olivares Mercado also assisted.
Banco Santander was counselled by law firm Morales & Besa.
In a separate transaction, Carey advised Citibank on a $20 million loan to Chilean private equity fund Inversiones Hierro Viejo, the majority shareholder in Chilean iron and steel mining company Invercap.
Carey lawyers engaged on the case were partner Diego Peralta and associates Fernando Noriega, Diego Lasagna and Rafael Mackay.
Reed Smith acted as international counsel to Citibank.
And in a separate deal, Carey counselled new and used car sales portal Chileautos’ shareholders on the sale of the remainder of their shares to classified ads portal Carsales Chile, who had exercised a call option to request the purchase of these shares, for a total of $3 million.
Carey partner Diego Peralta and associate Felipe Tupper were engaged as counsel to Chileautos.
