Carey counsels Cinépolis on cinema sale-and-leaseback deal
Chilean law firm Carey has counseled Cinépolis on the sale of the CineHoyts cinema complex located in La Reina, Santiago, and its later leaseback to a company controlled by a fund administered by Banchile Administradora General de Fondos.
The value of the deal is confidential, and closed after a successful bidding process by Cinépolis.
Given the specific purpose of the building object of the transaction, the parties had to negotiate the inclusion of highly technical issues inherent to the Cine Hoyts business in the contracts.
Carey’s team was led by partner Francisco Ugarte and featured counsel Eduardo Martin and associates Javiera Avilés, Beatriz Holmgren and Aurora Muñoz.
Banchile Administradora General de Fondos was advised by law firm Larrain, with a team comprising partners Cristobal Morandé and Juan Carlos Bulnes, and associates Michelle Inzunza and José Pedro Ruiz.
