Carey counsels CMPC on $100m green loan
Carey has acted as counsel to CMPC, a Chilean pulp and paper company, on a $100 million syndicated green loan financing, Chile’s first green loan entirely syndicated to Japanese banks.
The loan is the fourth green financing of CMPC and complies with the Green Loan Principles published by the Loan Market Association, Asia Pacific Association and Loan Syndications and Trading Association.
The proceeds will be used to finance and refinance projects with sustainable environmental benefits, which is in line with the company’s sustainability goals, Carey said in a statement.
Carey’s team was led by partner Diego Peralta (pictured), with associates Luciano Aguilera and Reiner Baack.
In a separate transaction, Carey advised mining company Osisko Bermuda on a definitive agreement with Mantos Copper to modify its existing silver purchase agreement with respect to 100 per cent of the silver produced from the Mantos Blancos copper mine in Chile.
The transaction is part of a comprehensive $225 million financing package entered into by Mantos Copper to expand the project’s sulphide concentrator.
Carey’s team was led by partners Rafael Vergara and Francisco Ugarte, with counsel Francisco Corona and associates Luciano Aguilera, Reiner Baack, Domingo Russi and Pablo Torrealba.
