Carey counsels CMPC Ventures in USD 75 million financing of Pulpex

Carey has advised CMPC Ventures on the USD 75 million series D financing round of Pulpex, a British startup known for developing biodegradable paper bottles made from cellulose.

The deal, which closed on April 11, 2025, involves both Chilean and UK jurisdictions and aims to fund the construction of Pulpex’s first commercial-scale manufacturing facility in Glasgow, Scotland.

This investment marks a significant milestone for Chile’s venture capital scene as the corporate venture capital arm of CMPC—one of Chile’s largest and most influential companies—supports innovative startups on a global scale.

Carey’s  advisory team for CMPC Ventures was led by partner Francisco Guzmán (pictured) and associate Andrés Latorre. Pulpex was advised by Osborne Clarke, with a team led by partner Mike Freer, associate directors Robert Pook and Emma Wills Davies, and associate Chris Flach. In-house legal counsel for CMPC was led by Benjamin Concha.
