Carey names two new directors

Carey has announced the appointment of Valentina Kuscevic (pictured left) and Tomás Varela (pictured right) as new directors of the firm to strengthen the areas of labour law and corporate immigration and real estate law.

Valentina is part of Carey’s Labour group and co-heads Carey Visas. She is a lawyer from the Catholic University of Chile and holds a Diploma in Labour Law and Social Security in the Company from the same university. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Labour Law and Social Security from the Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. She is an international associate of the American Immigration Lawyer Association. With more than 12 years of experience, her practice has specialised in corporate labour and immigration consultancy matters for national and multinational companies, including labour matters related to M&A processes and with a special focus on Global Mobility, expatriation and labour matters associated with cross-border corporate restructuring operations.

Tomás is part of Carey’s Real Estate group. He holds a law degree from the Universidad de Los Andes and a Diploma in Corporate Real Estate Law from the same university. He also holds an LL.M. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). In the past he worked as a foreign associate at the law firm, Bilzin Sumberg, in the United States. With more than 13 years of experience, he specialises mainly in advising local and foreign clients in the development of real estate projects, including land use matters, building permits, title review, sales, purchases, promises, leases, among other civil law matters.

With these appointments, the firm now has more than 270 professionals in its legal area, 44 partners, 2 senior advisors and 8 directors.
