Carey represents Capstone Mining in joint venture with Mantos Cooper

Carey has assisted Capstone Mining Corp. in a joint venture with Mantos Copper for $3.3 billion USD

 Carey has represented Canada’s Capstone Mining Corp. in a $3.3 billion US dollar joint venture with Mantos Copper. Under the deal, Capstone shareholders will own 60.75% of the new company, which will operate as Capstone Copper. Mantos shareholders will own the remaining stake.

The closing of the transaction, signed on 30 November, is subject to regulatory and court approvals expected to be obtained during the first quarter of 2022. After closing, Capstone Copper will operate the Chilean mining projects Mantoverde, Mantos Copper and Santo Domingo.

Blake, Cassels & Graydon acted as international counsel to Capstone Mining Corp, while Baker McKenzie (Chile) acted as local counsel to Mantos Copper and Stikeman Elliot acted as international counsel to Mantos Copper.
