Carey represents Windin Capital in Cancura project financing

Carey has represented Windin’ Capital in the local aspects of the senior financing of the Cancura Project for up to US $34 million and the value added tax financing with Banco BICE associated with the construction of the project, for the equivalent in pesos of US $3.5 million.

The transaction was completed on December 18, where White & Case acted as international advisor to Windin’ Capital, while Hunton Andrews Kurth and Garrigues acted as international and local counsels to the lenders, respectively. Link Capital Partners acted as financial advisor.

The Cancura Project corresponds to a wind farm of approximately 36.6 MW of installed capacity, and the construction of a regulated substation associated with the wind farm, of 66 kilovolts of capacity, located in the commune of Angol, Malleco.

The advice involved coordination with the client’s various advisors (financial, technical and legal) and the simultaneous negotiation of the senior financing, subject to foreign law, and the VAT financing, subject to Chilean law.

Hunton Andrews Kurth’s team consisted of international counsel Alejandro Silva, and associate James Channing.

Garrigues’ team included partner Antonio Morales, and associates Sebastián Nieme, Edgardo Conde and Macarena Faúndez.

White & Case’s team was represented by partner Thomas Pate and associate Angeles Femenia.
