Carey represents Zapping in $5m financing round
Carey has represented Zapping, a Chilean start-up that provides subscription-based live TV services via internet connection, in raising a US $5 million financing round through SAFE’s.
This transaction closed on 26 September and involved the jurisdictions of Chile, Panama and the US (Delaware). Gunderson Dettmer acted as international advisor to Zapping, while Arias Fábrega & Fábrega advised the investor Medios de Comunicación, and Portaluppi Guzmán & Bezanilla advised the investor Amarena. Tyndal Group and Moss Adams acted as financial advisors.
This round was carried out in the context of the company’s expansion in Brazil through the acquisition of Guigo TV, as part of its internationalisation process. Investors in the round also included Joaquín Niemann, a Chilean professional golfer, who invested USD 1 million in the round and also formed a strategic alliance with Zapping to broadcast content from the new LIV golf tour.
