Carey, Simpson Thacher and Clifford Chance guide $150m COPEC loan

Carey and Clifford Chance advised the lenders in relation to a $150m loan to Chilean industrial group COPEC, which instructed Simpson Thacher.

COPEC (Compañía de Petróleos de Chile) is a Chilean diversified industrial holding company which focuses on fuels, forestry and fishing.

Export Development Canada and Scotiabank provided the credit, structured in two separate but substantially identical New York law Credit Agreements and documented by means of Chilean promissory notes.

Partner Diego Peralta led the Carey team which provided Chilean counsel to the lenders.

The banks instructed Clifford Chance for NY law matters, with partner Daniel Winick on a lead role.

Partner David L. Williams led the Simpson Thacher lawyers which acted for COPEC.
