Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos acts on Scotiabank Chile’s USD 60 million financing

Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos acted as legal counsel to Scotiabank Chile and a syndicate of banks, including Banco Santander-Chile and Banco BICE, in connection with two financing agreements totaling USD 60 million granted to Pesquera Fiordo Austral and Trio SpA, both part of the Fiordo Austral Group. The agreements, governed by Chilean law, were fully disbursed at closing on January 31, 2025.

The financing agreements included two tranches for each borrower: one for refinancing existing credits and another for financing direct exports. The transactions were secured by joint and several guarantees from eight related companies of the borrowers, as well as real estate and processing plant assets belonging to the borrowers and their affiliates.

Pesquera Fiordo Austral specializes in producing fishmeal and fish oil, while Trio SpA focuses on high-standard products for animal feed. These financings will support the group’s continued growth and export activities.

The legal teams involved in this transaction were led by Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos, with partner Juan Antonio Parodi (pictured left) heading the team. He was supported by senior associate Teresita Fernández (pictured center left) and associates Glen Rybertt (pictured center), Alejandra Díaz (pictured center right), and Javier Molina (pictured left).

Barros y Errázuriz and Villarroel Lecaros Aste acted as Chilean counsel to the borrowers, providing critical legal support throughout the process.
