Carolina Machado joins Brazil’s De Paula Dias

Brazilian law firm De Paula Dias has recruited Carolina Machado as Of Counsel in its international arbitration practice, an area in which she has ample experience in the energy and construction sectors.

CarolinaMachado De Paula DiasMachado (pictured) is based in São Paulo and is admitted to practice law both in Brazil and in New York, and she has significant experience in commercial and investment disputes involving companies located in Latin America, the US, Europe and Asia. 



She has represented the largest Brazilian oil and gas company in three complex ICC construction arbitration matters valued at more than $800 million each under New York law, and represented one of the largest energy companies in Europe on a DIS construction energy arbitration involving projects in Brazil.

Before joining De Paula Dias, Machado had worked as an associate in international law firms in Brazil, New York, London and Paris, and as an adviser at the International Centre of Dispute Resolution (ICDR).



She has also worked as counsel at the ICDR and attended an internship at the Southern District Court of New York.



She has studied at Fordham University School of Law, Stockholm University School of Law, Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and Universidade Católica de Minas Gerais.


Machado is a native Portuguese speaker fluent in English and Spanish.
