Cescon Barrieu and Stocche Forbes act on the acquisition of the Vilas Complex from the French company Voltalia for $207.8 million by Copel

COPEL – Companhia Paranaense de Energia, acquired through its subsidiary Copel Geração e Transmissão (GeT), all the shares of the Vilas Wind Complex, located in Serra do Mel, Rio Grande do Norte and owned by Voltalia Energia do Brasil, a subsidiary of the French company Voltalia.

Altogether there are five wind farms with an installed capacity of 186.7 megawatts. The transaction represents an important step in Copel’s strategy of sustainable growth in renewable energy and in the diversification of its generation matrix.

The purchase price was US 207.8 million dollars. The deal is subject to approval by Cade.

Stocche Forbes Advogados advised Voltalia SA, VMI-VSM IV BV and VLTI Investment 2 BV, Brownfield Investment Holding Ltda., Ventos de Serra do Mel B SA and EOL Potiguar B61 SPE SA with a team led by partner Frederico Cursino de Moura (pictured right) and lawyers Teo Silva Galvão and Carolina Seixas Braga.
