Cleary Gottlieb and PPU advised on dollar- and euro-denominated debt offerings by Chile

Cleary Gottlieb advised the Republic of Chile in two registered sovereign offerings.  PPU acted for the underwriters as local counsel. 

The operations consisted of two offerings, one of €830 million 1.440% notes due 2029 which priced on January 25, 2018 and closed on February 1; and another of $2 billion 3.240% notes due 2028. The latter priced on January 29, 2018 and closed on February 6, 2018.

Santander, BNP Paribas and HSBC were joint lead managers and bookrunners for the 2029 notes while Citigroup Global Markets, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan Securities and Merrill Lynch acted on the 2028 notes

Cleary Gottlieb lawyers in Buenos Aires, New York and London took part on the operations. The team included partners Andrés de la Cruz in Buenos Aires and Erika Nijenhuis in New York.

Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría advised the underwriters under Chilean law. Partner Marcelo Armas fronted the PPU squad. 

It was reported that Morales & Besa were local counsel to the Republic while Shearman & Sterling advised the underwriters as US counsel.
