Cleary Gottlieb represents BBVA on Aeroméxico loan

Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton has advised BBVA México and the group of initial lenders on a $250 million senior secured revolving credit facility granted to Aerovías de México, the main operating subsidiary of Grupo Aeroméxico. BBVA México acted as sole bookrunner, lead arranger, initial lender, and administrative agent in the transaction, which was guaranteed by Grupo Aeroméxico and Aerolitoral.

Grupo Aeroméxico intends to use the proceeds of the facility for general corporate purposes. The new credit line refinances the company’s existing revolving credit facility entered into in 2024, and became effective on September 30, 2026.

Grupo Aeroméxico is Mexico’s national airline and a founding member of the SkyTeam Alliance, alongside Delta Air Lines, Air France and Korean Air, making it the only Mexican carrier that is part of a global airline alliance.

The Cleary Gottlieb corporate team advising on the facility was led by partner Manuel Silva (pictured), together with associates Pedro Arango Montes and Lucas Davidenco. Tax matters were handled by partner Matthew Brigham and associate Yoolim Lee. All members of the team are based in New York, with the exception of Pedro Arango Montes, who is based in São Paulo.
