Cleary Gottlieb represents Mexico in €2.5bn notes offering
Law firm Cleary Gottlieb has represented the Mexican government in a euro-denominated registered offering of €1.5 billion of its 1.625% global notes due 2026, in addition to €1 billion of its 2.875% global notes due 2039.
Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan Securities, Banco Santander and UBS acted as underwriters for the offering, which launched and priced on April 1, 2019, and closed on April 8.
This was the first euro-denominated offering by the Mexican administration since it took office on December 1, 2018.
Cleary has represented Mexico as issuer in numerous securities transactions for more than 20 years.
The Cleary team was led by partner Nicolas Grabar and included senior attorney Carlos von der Heyde, associate Stephanie Fontana and international lawyer Jose Andres de Saro.
Partner Erika Nijenhuis, associate Anthony Thomas Yanez, and law clerk Michael Eis provided advice on tax matters.
