Clifford Chance adds arbitration partner with experience in Latin America

Clifford Chance announced that Janet Whittaker has joined its international arbitration practice group as a partner.

Whittaker joins Clifford Chance from Simpson Thacher and will be based in DC. She is qualified to practice in England, New York and Washington DC.

Whittaker brings a broad array of experience, including acting as legal counsel at the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Her expertise includes international commercial arbitrations with a Latin American focus across different industries, including energy, oil and gas, infrastructure, concessions, IT and private equity.

In addition, Whittaker is also experienced in disputes involving sovereigns under investment treaties and international trade agreements, both as counsel and as a secretary to tribunals.

Janet Whittaker said, “I am excited to be joining a firm with an internationally recognized litigation and arbitration practice that leading companies and senior executives routinely call upon to resolve their most contentious issues in the Americas and around the world. Clifford Chance’s strong Americas practice and global presence is a natural fit for me and I couldn’t be more pleased to be joining a firm with such a strong commitment to its clients.”
