Clyde & Co links up with Chile’s Grasty Quintana Majlis

Global law firm Clyde & Co has entered into an association with Chilean firm Grasty Quintana Majlis, giving it an on-the-ground presence in Chile for the first time.

Lee Bacon of Clyde & CoThe association will see the firms work together, refer work to one another, and provide a more integrated service for existing clients in the region and globally, across key sectors such as insurance, construction and infrastructure, trade and commodities, and natural resources.

Grasty Quintana Majlis is a 10-partner, corporate, commercial, tax, disputes and employment firm, with more than 30 years’ experience in the Chilean market in every segment of the Chilean economy, including insurance, natural resources and construction.

“Chile is one of Latin America’s fastest-growing economies and an important market for our core sectors.,” Peter Hirst, senior partner, said of the association. “We are very pleased to partner with a firm that has such a similar client-centric mind-set and ambitious approach.”

The association bolsters Clyde & Co’s reputation as a leading insurance and trading firm in Latin America, and builds on the firm’s more than 25-year presence in the region and its growing footprint across the Americas, where it now has 13 offices in countries including Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico, Canada and the US.

“The association is in line with our broader strategy in Latin America, with an incremental improvement to our regional network with a high quality, trusted partner firm in a key jurisdiction,” Bacon said. “This association will enable us to serve clients in the international insurance markets as well as international corporates in relation to significant claims and disputes in the wider region. In the past 18 months, Clyde & Co has expanded internationally, setting up shop in Hamburg, Dublin and Bristol, England.

The latest merger follows Clyde & Co’s merger with law firm Garza Tello & Asociados in May 2017, through which it opened its first offices in Mexico.
