CMS promotes partner in Mexico

International law firm CMS has announced a slew of promotions in various countries that includes the appointment of Marcia Santomé to the position of partner in the firm’s Mexico City-based infrastructure and projects practice.

MARCIA SANTOME of CMSMarcia (pictured) advises clients on projects involving the participation of the private sector in the development of infrastructure and services traditionally carried out by the public sector.

She has participated in the structuring and implementation of public-private partnerships, advising both public sector and private sector clients. She has had the opportunity to participate in projects of great importance due to their complexity, innovation and social content, acquiring vast experience in the entire project lifecycle, including defining the most adequate structure, advising on bidding procedures for the awarding of contracts, concessions, licences and permits, drafting and negotiation of the necessary legal documents for the financing of infrastructure projects, and providing ongoing legal counsel for projects already in operation.

Her promotion is one of 41 the firm has announced for 2020, spanning 15 cities across Europe, Latin America and Africa.

Women account for half of the new partner promotions in the UK and over 40 per cent of all new partners globally, the firm said.

Penelope Warne, senior partner of CMS UK, said, “we are very pleased to recognise the great talent and skills we have across the firm. We are also delighted by the strong representation of women joining as new partners and are very committed to investing in all our people and empowering all of them to reach their full potential. We would like to congratulate all our new partners on their well-deserved promotions.”

CMS executive chairman Pierre-Sébastien Thill, added, “our people remain our most important asset. Our newly-appointed partners all have the skills and expertise across sectors and borders to help our clients drive their business forward, especially in these challenging times.”
