Cuatrecasas adds three new partners
Cuatrecasas has announced that Juan Sebastián Lombana, Jaime Moya and Ramiro Portocarrero have joined the firm as new partners. The first two, experts in Litigation and Arbitration and Corporate and M&A, respectively, will strengthen the teams in the Bogotá office, while Ramiro, also an expert in Litigation and Arbitration, will join the Lima office.
The three appointments were ratified by the Extraordinary Partners’ Meeting held on 27 November, where four partners in Spain were also appointed.
Juan Sebastián (pictured right) has more than 18 years of experience in the representation of national and international companies, mainly in the Oil & Gas, Public Services, State Contracting-Infrastructure, Extractive and Energy sectors, providing his solid vision and efficient solutions in highly complex litigation both in the courts and in national and international arbitration. In addition to his trajectory, he has a very relevant academic career in the most prestigious universities in Colombia. He was previously a partner at Novit Abogados.
Jaime Moya (pictured left), also from Novit, has 27 years of professional experience in commercial, corporate, public securities market, corporate governance and competition law. His career has been mainly linked to advising domestic and foreign companies in mergers, acquisitions, infrastructure investments, among others. He was also general secretary of Almacenes Éxito and legal vice-president of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce. He has also been a professor at the Universidad del Rosario, Universidad de los Andes, Universidad Externado de Colombia and Universidad de la Sabana. He holds a law degree from the Universidad del Rosario, as well as an LLM from Harvard Law School.
Ramiro Portocarrero (pictured centre) has more than 20 years of professional experience. His work is mainly focused on advising Peruvian and foreign companies in the energy, construction and concessions sectors. In recent years, he has successfully led the defence of his clients in a large number of international arbitrations under Peruvian, Colombian, Spanish and English law in Bogotá, Lima, Madrid, Miami and New York. Lawyer by the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and Master in Contract Law by the University of Rome Tor Vergata, he has specialised studies in the oil and gas industries. He is a member of the Peruvian Chapter of the ICC, of the Lima Bar Association and director of the Peruvian Chapter of the Spanish and Ibero-American Arbitration Club. He also combines his work with teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses at prestigious Peruvian universities. Previously, he was a partner in firms such as Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uria, Ferrero Abogados, and worked in other firms such as Miranda & Amado and Benites Vargas & Ugaz.
Lisbeth Gárate has also joined the Lima office, who is an accredited expert in construction arbitration and has worked in renowned international law firms.
