Cuatrecasas assists Softys and CMPC in obtaining a $37m credit facility

Cuatrecasas, through its team in Santiago de Chile, has assisted Softys Brazil, as borrower, and Empresas CMPC, as guarantor, in a US$37 million financing, to be used for general corporate purposes, underwritten under the laws of Brazil.

The loan was granted on 25 July, where BNP Paribas acted as lender and was advised by Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (PPU).

This transaction is part of Softys’ expansion plan into the Brazilian market, and involves the subscription of a new financing with BNP Paribas, one of the institutional lenders with which the company has recently reached credit agreements.

Softys, is a manufacturer and distributor of consumer products, commercialising tissues, towels, napkins, toilet paper and tissue, seat protectors, scarves and sanitary towels, among other products, in Brazil.

Benjamín Concha acted as in-house counsel to Empresas CMPC.

PPU’s team was led by partner Marcelo Armas, assisted by associates Daniel Parodi and Juan Ignacio Rosales.
