Cuatrecasas counsels Aquis Exchange on contract with Banco de Colombia
Cuatrecasas, through its Bogotá office, has counselled Aquis Exchange PLC in the process of awarding and negotiating the contract that positions it as the technology provider for Banco de la República de Colombia.
This contract is historic, as it will allow Aquis Exchange, through its Aquis Technologies division, to implement its technological trading platform and support services for the operation of the Colombian government bond market, known as the Electronic Trading System (SEN).
With this operation, Banco de la República, the entities affiliated to the SEN and the Public Debt Securities Market Makers Programme will be able to access an advanced solution that incorporates new technologies and the best international practices in trading infrastructures, which will guarantee a more efficient and secure participation in the market.
In addition, this project will boost Colombia’s economic development by providing the state with a modern, efficient, transparent and accessible platform for the government bond market. A more agile and effective service is expected, aligned with the Bank’s mission objectives, thus benefiting the country’s economy as a whole.
The award of the contract not only marks a milestone in the modernisation of the financial infrastructure in Colombia, but also represents a strategic expansion for Aquis in Latin America. With a strong presence in markets such as the UK, Africa, Asia Pacific and Europe, Aquis now strengthens its commitment to innovation in Latin American public debt markets.
