Cuatrecasas counsels BBVA on $500m loan to Fibra EXI

Cuatrecasas has assisted BBVA Mexico in granting a sustainable loan of 500 million pesos to Fibra EXI

Cuatrecasas, through its Mexico City office, has counselled BBVA Mexico on granting a sustainable loan of 500 million pesos to Fibra EXI for a term of three years. This financing is linked to sustainable indicators that seek to reduce energy intensity in KWh from non-renewable sources per kilometre of road operated, with an impact area that includes four highways and a toll tunnel.

This is the first loan that BBVA Mexico has granted directly to an infrastructure Fibra, based on sustainable indicators, whose purpose is to promote actions to combat the effects of climate change.

Fibra EXI consists of five infrastructure assets: Apaseo-Palmillas, Kantunil-Cancún, Río Verde-Ciudad Valles, Libramiento Piedad and the Acapulco Interurban Tunnel. These assets are located in seven Mexican states and have a total length of 521 kilometres.

Cuatrecasas’ team included partners León López (pictured right) and José Higinio Núñez (pictured bottom left), associate Juan Carlos Galicia (pictured top left), junior associate Ana Isabel Echeverría and lawyer María Fernanda Ramírez.
