Cuatrecasas counsels BBVA on financing for the acquisition of the Hotel St. Regis Punta Mita

Cuatrecasas’ Mexico office assisted BBVA Bancomer in the financing of the acquisition of Hotel St. Regis in Punta Mita

 Cuatrecasas, through its Mexico City office, has counselled BBVA Bancomer on the financing granted to a joint venture formed by Vertex Real Estate Investors and Grupo MRP (50% each) for the acquisition of the Hotel St. Regis Punta Mita, located in Riviera Nayarit (Mexico).

Vertex acted as structuring agent for the purchase, in which the investment consortium has acquired the hotel, which has 120 rooms and suites. The hotel will continue to be operated by Marriott International, Inc. under a long-term management contract.

This is the first transaction of this magnitude in the hotel industry following the Covid-19 pandemic. Thanks to this transaction, BBVA’s participation in the hotel financing market in the country has now been consolidated.

The St. Regis Punta Mita Hotel, recognised as one of the world’s leading luxury resorts, is located within the exclusive Punta Mita master plan in the Riviera Nayarit. For this hotel, a plan has been defined by the new owners, in which they will renovate and reposition the property on the Mexican Pacific coast.
