Cuatrecasas hires Goyburu as finance partner in Peru

Cuatrecasas has hired José Goyburu (pictured)as a partner in its Lima Finance Practice, strengthening the firm’s banking and capital markets capabilities in Peru and across Latin America. The move is part of the firm’s broader strategy to consolidate specialist teams capable of handling increasingly complex transactional activity in the region, combining transactional advisory with in-depth regulatory knowledge.

Goyburu brings more than 20 years of experience in the banking and finance sector. Prior to joining Cuatrecasas, he served as co-head of the banking and finance and capital markets practices at a Peruvian law firm, held the position of legal manager at a Peruvian fiduciary company, and served as senior legal advisor at one of Peru’s main banks.

Goyburu holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master in Banking and Finance Law with a specialization in banking regulation, both from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, as well as a Diploma in Business Management for Lawyers from Universidad del Pacífico. His work on complex transactions has been recognized by Chambers & Partners in Banking & Finance (Band 3) and Capital Markets (Band 4), as well as by IFLR 1000 and Legal 500.
