Cuatrecasas on mining transport investments by BTG Pactual
Cuatrecasas, through its Santiago office, has advised Transición Energética, owned by a BTG Pactual Chile AGF fund, on two structuring and purchase transactions to provide electric buses for transport and charging infrastructure to various mining companies.
This transaction is the first of its kind by BTG through the AGF and contributes to the promotion of the use, development and investment in renewable energy and energy efficiency. This will promote the use and application of clean technologies in all productive activities, diversify primary energy sources and address the electromobility value chain for mining.
The financing obtained by Transición Energética was through a syndicated loan, granted by banking and non-banking entities for the acquisition of the project to operate electric buses owned by Enel X in different deposits of Compañía Minera del Pacífico and Codelco and for the payment of VAT.
The transactions were structured through the assignment of contractual position and receivables by Enel X and the bus operators in favour of Transición Energética to ensure that the SPV received the flows directly from the mining company, thus eliminating the operator’s risk.
Cuatrecasas’ team comprised partner Macarena Ravinet (pictured) and principal associate Franco Dalmazzo, with associates Isidora Opazo and Magdalena Urquidi supporting on the first transaction, and associate Vladiana Alarcón supporting on the second transaction.
