Cuatrecasas represents Bancolombia and Fondo de Deuda Senior in infrastructure financing

Cuatrecasas, through its Colombia office, has assisted Bancolombia and Fondo de Deuda Senior in the financing of the Ibagué-Honda-Cambao- Manizales corridor project

Cuatrecasas has represented Bancolombia and the CAF-AM Ashmore I Senior Debt Fund for Infrastructure in Colombia in the financing granted to Concesionaria Alternativas Viales for 458 billion Colombian pesos. This financial closing guarantees the required investment in the Ibagué-Honda-Cambao- Manizales corridor, which is part of the Colombian government’s 4G infrastructure projects.

Bancolombia participated in the transaction with a short term tranche of 165.3 billion Colombian pesos and a CPI tranche of 116.7 billion, while Fondo de Deuda Senior para Infraestructura en Colombia CAF-AM Ashmore I entered the financing with a UVR tranche of 176 billion.

The transaction included multiple jurisdictions (Colombian law and Portuguese law). The project has been backed internationally by Portuguese industrial conglomerate Mota Engil, and locally by Coherpa-Icein.

The road project consists of 256 km connecting the departments of Cundinamarca, Tolima and Caldas, becoming a strategic communication axis between the interior of the country and the Eje Cafetero region, which will increase tourism in the north of Tolima and the Los Nevados National Natural Park.

The Ibagué-Honda-Cambao-Manizales road project is currently in the construction phase, with a total progress of 43.55%, and is carrying out work on approximately 42 construction fronts, generating 1,270 direct and indirect jobs.

Cuatrecasas’ team was led by partner Manuel Quinche (pictured), assisted by associates Natalia Serrano and Laura Toro.
