Demarest advises winner of Chapada dos Guimarães auction

Demarest advised Infrastructure investment fund Fundo de Investimentos em Participações em Infraestrutura (FIP), represented in the auction by Fram Capital, that was the winner of the concession auction for the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, held on December 22 at B3 in São Paulo.

The winner submitted a proposal of BRL 1,009,132.27, constituting a premium of 9% in relation to the minimum amount defined in the bid notice, and will be responsible for activities to support visitation, revitalization, modernization, operation and maintenance of tourist services in the Chapada dos Guimarães National Park, including funding for actions to support conservation, protection and management.

Chapada dos Guimarães National Park was the eighth park to have its concession auctioned this year. The project was developed by the Fábrica de Projetos do BNDES (BNDES Project Factory), in partnership with ICMBio (Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation), the Ministry of the Environment (MMA) and the Ministry of Tourism (Mtur).

The concession period will be 30 years, and the planned investments are around BRL 18 million related to visitation, and BRL 200 million for park management.

The investments will be allocated to park tourist attractions Morro de São Jerônimo, Cachoeira Véu de Noiva, and Cidade de Pedra, as well as investments in the implementation of new attractions with lookouts.

The bid notice also provides for other investments, within a period of up to three years, in improvements in operational buildings, accessibility, leisure infrastructure, transportation between attractions and facilities in various areas, as well as the creation of new tours.

The FIP was advised by Demarest’s Infrastructure and Public Law team and relied on led partners Bruno Aurélio (pictured left) and Renan Sona (pictured right).
