Demarest Advogados announced David Meiler and Bárbara Bittencourt as new partners of Energy and Natural Resources

Demarest Advogados announced David Meiler (pictured left) and Bárbara Bittencourt (pictured right) – recognized for their extensive work in Oil & Gas – as new partners of the firm’s Energy and Natural Resources practice area.

With over 20 years of experience, the new partners have been active in transactions involving the Brazilian oil and gas industry, assisting different companies in operational, regulatory and contractual issues, mainly in the context of onshore and offshore project development, including the purchase and sale of oil and gas assets, vessel chartering, fuel import, storage and distribution, and have assisted in obtaining licenses or permits from regulatory agencies and in structuring the participation in bidding rounds.

David Meiler has a law degree from the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), and masters degrees (LL.M) from the University of Pittsburgh, PA (USA), and also from the University of Houston, TX (USA), in Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources.

Bárbara Bittencourt has more than 15 years of experience in the sector. She has a degree from Milton Campos Law School, a master’s degree (LL.M) in Oil and Gas from the University of Aberdeen and an extension course from Harvard University (USA) in Marine Policy and Ocean Management.
