Demarest expands environmental practice with new partner

Demarest has announced the arrival of Eduardo Ferreira (pictured) as a new partner in the environmental practice, at a time when environmental legislation and the socio-environmental agenda are becoming even more critical as decisive factors for the viability, competitiveness, and legal certainty of new businesses.

With a master’s degree in Diffuse and Collective Rights from PUC-SP, a specialization in Environmental Law and Strategic Sustainability Management, and a law degree from the same institution, Eduardo has over 25 years of experience in the field, having worked at leading law firms in the market.

In the Environmental practice, his work focuses primarily on conducting judicial and administrative litigation, in addition to providing advisory services on socio-environmental issues, in coordination with the firm’s other practice areas. Among his activities, the following stand out: the development of pre-litigation strategies—related to challenges in the regular conduct of business activities—and negotiations with authorities and regulatory agencies to seek consensual solutions in highly complex situations and in the management of environmental crises.

The new partner’s professional background includes a track record of advising companies across various sectors, particularly agribusiness and mining, as well as involvement in cases involving contaminated sites and in conducting negotiations and reaching agreements with public authorities and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, especially in sensitive contexts involving dialogue between public and private sectors that are impacted by or affect the activities of large companies and multiple stakeholders.

Demarest now has a total of 114 partners, and Eduardo’s arrival further strengthens the Environmental practice, which has been distinguished by the collaborative efforts of its partners—including Marcelo Azevedo—and a team of 20 attorneys.
