Dentons opens office in Monterrey

Global law firm Dentons announced it opened its second office in Mexico, this time in Monterrey.

Monterrey is widely considered a key market and one of Mexico´s most important energy and industrial hubs. Mexican and international law firms have already an established presence in the area.

Dentons Lopez Velarde, the Mexican arm of Dentons, merged with Monterrey firm Canales Zambrano y Asociados. This development follows a busy 2016 which saw the firm setting up shop in Central America and Colombia in addition to the presence in Mexico.

“We are thrilled to have the skilled lawyers of one of Monterrey’s most highly regarded firms join with Dentons López Velarde,” said Rogelio López Velarde, Dentons’ Mexico Managing Partner. “The combination of our Mexico City and Monterrey capabilities greatly enhances our ability to serve clients of all types on a national scale.”

“Today’s Monterrey opening is another step in the strategy initiated by the establishment of Dentons offices in Mexico City and Bogotá last year and last month’s announcement that Dentons will become the first global law firm to serve Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Panama when we combine with Muñoz Global later this year,” said Jorge Alers, Dentons’ Chief Executive Officer for Latin America and the Caribbean. “We continue to make significant and rapid progress toward our goal of meeting client needs throughout the entirety of Latin America and the Caribbean.”
