Dentons represents Aris Gold on acquisition of 20% interest in Soto Norte gold project in Colombia

Dentons has advised Aris Gold Corporation on the acquisition of 20% stake in Mubadala’s Soto Norte gold project in Colombia

 Dentons, through its offices in Colombia and Spain, has advised Canadian multinational miner, Aris Gold Corporation, on the acquisition of a 20% interest in the Soto Norte gold project in Colombia, with an option to acquire an additional 30% interest from MDC Industry Holding Company LLC (Mubadala).

Aris Gold Corporation is listed on Canada’s Toronto Venture Exchange, while Mubadala Investment Company is a sovereign wealth fund of the United Arab Emirates based in Abu Dhabi.

The Soto Norte project is an underground greenfield mine and gold processing plant that will use technology that minimises the impact on the environment. Located in the municipalities of California and Suratá, some 60km northeast of Bucaranga, the capital of the department of Santander, near the Santurbán páramo in the eastern cordillera of the Colombian Andes, it covers an area of 140,000ha.

In the Colombia office, the team consisted of senior associate Lucía Escobar (pictured top right), together with associate Daniel García (pictured bottom left) and law clerk Ana Restrepo (pictured bottom right).

The Spain team consisted of managing partner Jabier Badiola, partners Israel de Diego and Juan Vigón, and senior associate Iñigo Olarte.
