DGA appoints Álvaro Vértiz as partner in Mexico
Dentons Global Advisors has announced the addition of Álvaro Vértiz (pictured) as a partner, who will help establish and lead the firm’s new offering in Mexico City.
Álvaro has extensive experience in Latin American markets, where he most recently served as Chief Operating Officer and Head of Business Strategy and Strategic Alliances, and a member of the Board of BlackRock Mexico. During his time at BlackRock, he oversaw day-to-day operations, managed its strategic relationships and made significant contributions to the company’s growth and ESG commitments.
Prior to joining BlackRock, he was the General Counsel for Latin America at Prudential Real Estate Investors Latin America, where he was responsible for all legal aspects of the company’s investments in Chile and ongoing business in Brazil. He also held senior legal positions at GE Capital Real Estate and GE Capital Solutions. In addition to his professional achievements, he led the Sustainable Investment group of the United Nations Global Compact, where he published a paper on sustainable investment best practices.
He holds a law degree, equivalent to a Juris Doctor, from the Universidad Panamericana, and a Master in Business and Law from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law. He is a professor of management at the Universidad Panamericana Business School and a guest lecturer in the corporate governance module at the Universidad Panamericana Law School.
