ECIJA assists OPEC in investment protection agreement in Dominican Republic
ECIJA DVMS has assisted the OPEC Fund for International Cooperation in the negotiation of an Investment Promotion and Protection Agreement signed with the Dominican State.
The agreement was signed in Austria by Roberto Alvarez, Minister of Foreign Affairs, on behalf of the Dominican State, while on behalf of the OPEC Fund for International Cooperation it was signed by its Director-General Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa.
The objective of the signing of this agreement is to strengthen the Dominican Republic’s capacity to attract investments that are compatible with the protection and conservation of the environment, respect for human rights and internationally recognized standards of corporate social responsibility and that promote job creation and capacity building. The stimulation of capital flows would take place through the financing of private sector activities.
