Ecuador’s Heka hires new litigation head
Ecuadorian law firm Heka Abogados has hired Cristina Viteri as a partner and who will be the firm’s new head of litigation and arbitration.
Viteri (pictured) was previously legal director at Quito’s metro operator, Empresa Pública Metropolitana Metro de Quito, and prior to that had worked as a legal adviser to the country’s public prosecutor, and prior to that as a foreign associate at law firm Winston & Strawn.
She holds a master’s degree in conflict resolution from the University of Geneva.
In a statement regarding the hire, Quito-based Heka said it aims to strengthen its attention to clients signing investment contracts for infrastructure construction in Ecuador that contain arbitration clauses.
The firm says it expects to see an increase in the number of construction contracts signed in the country, beyond the COVID-19 pandemic.
