Estudio Rodrigo and Simpson Thacher instructed on mining deal in Peru
Simpson Thacher acted for Minsur in the acquisition of a 30% stake in Marcobre. Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano acted as local counsel to Minsur.
Marcobre owns the Mina Justa copper mining project, which is located south of the Peruvian capital. KLS Limited, an entity owned by Korean companies Korea Resources and LS Nikko Copper, sold the 30% stake to Minsur for an undisclosed value.
As a result of this deal, Minsur and its subsidiaries now own all of the shares of Marcobre. Minsur is the mining arm of Grupo Breca, one of Peru´s largest conglomerates.
Partner Juan Francisco Méndez led the Simpson Thacher advising Minsur which retained Rodrigo, Elías & Medrano as Peruvian counsel.
