Ferrere on Microsoft’s first AI lab in LatAm
Ferrere has advised on the applicable regulatory scheme, and on the drafting of the contract between Microsoft and the Parque Tecnológico del Laboratorio Tecnológico del Uruguay (LATU) for the installation of Microsoft’s first artificial intelligence laboratory in Latin America in said technological park.
The LATU Technology Park is a space that brings together companies and public and private organisations related to technology, education, innovation, among others.
The Microsoft AI Co-Innovation Lab, the only one of its kind in the region, joins the existing labs in the United States, Germany and China and aims to provide Uruguayan and regional companies with free access to cutting-edge technology to develop products and solutions, as well as to obtain guidance and recommendations from experts to realise the full potential of artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, under the direction of Juan Lavista, chief data scientist in Uruguay for Microsoft Corporation.
Ferrere’s team was led by partner Sebastián Ramos (pictured), with support from senior associates Federico Lemos, Lucía Rosso and Walter Planells.
