Former Odebrecht GC launches boutique law firm in the Dominican Republic

MEB Legal, a boutique law firm catering for construction and infrastructure clients, has opened its doors in Santo Domingo.

substationThe highly specialised firm is fronted by María Eugenia Batista, who worked for over 10 years as the general counsel for Odebrecht in the Dominican Republic. During her tenure, Batista negotiated the EPC contract for the construction of a $2 billion carbon power plant, with the Dominican Republic state-owned power generating entity, among other major transactions.

Prior to her in-house role, Batista practiced law at Pellerano & Herrera from 1995 to 2008.

Batista completed her Master’s Degree in Business Law (2000-2001) at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICAI-ICADE) in Madrid, Spain and studied law in the Dominican Republic at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (1991-1996) in Santo Domingo.

Building on her extensive experience, Batista decided to launch a legal practice focusing on serving clients in the construction and infrastructure sectors.
