FV has former attorney General of the National Treasury as partner
Figueiredo e Velloso Advogados introduces former attorney general of the National Treasury, Ricardo Soriano de Alencar (pictured), as new partner in charge of the public and tax law areas.
Former attorney general of the National Treasury (2020-2022), Soriano joined the firm after a 25-year public career. He was an attorney-general of the National Treasury for two decades, also acting as deputy attorney-general of the institution (2009 to 2015 and from 2016 to 2020). Before that, he was a federal prosecutor.
The move is part of the firm’s strategy to strengthen its practice in the various branches of business law, addressing the needs of its clientele in a comprehensive manner.
Throughout his career, Soriano has served on the boards of directors of several companies, such as Petrobras, Banco do Nordeste, Terracap (Brasília Real Estate Company) and Caixa Econômica Federal, where he was also a member of the fiscal council.
He took part in the Jurists’ Commission instituted jointly by the Senate and the Federal Supreme Court to elaborate draft laws to modernize the national administrative and tax proceedings. As Attorney General of the National Treasury, he contributed, within the Executive Branch, to the debates and analyses on Tax Reform.
Soriano holds a bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Brasília (UnB), a postgraduate degree in Administrative Law and Constitutional Law from the University Gama Filho, and a postgraduate degree from the Higher School Foundation of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Federal District and Territories with a study of the topic “Jurisdictional Order”.
