García & Bodán advises on El Salvador-Honduras border crossing upgrade
Law firm García & Bodán has advised Spanish company Eurofinsa, an affiliate of US company IBT LLC, on the redevelopment of the El Amatillo border crossing between El Salvador and Honduras, a project with an estimated cost of $13.5 million.
The funds for the project will be provided by FOMILENIO II, a US-backed investment plan for infrastructure development and poverty alleviation in El Salvador.
García & Bodán’s partner Oscar Torres and senior associate Mauricio Orellana advised the client on the public tender rules for the project in order to design an optimum bid and its subsequent establishment in El Salvador.
The redevelopment of the border crossing includes infrastructure and technology upgrades to reduce waiting time from the current eight hours to 30 minutes, accelerating the crossing of cargo between the two countries.
García & Bodán has offices in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua.
