Garrigues expands construction and infrastructure practices in Chile
Garrigues has strengthened its construction and infrastructure practice in Chile with the appointment of Rodrigo Riquelme (pictured) as a partner and Camilo Silva as a principal associate. These additions aim to bolster the firm’s capabilities in both public and private sector projects across Latin America.
Rodrigo Riquelme, a seasoned expert with over 20 years of experience, will lead the construction and infrastructure practice at Garrigues’ Santiago office. Renowned for his expertise in construction contracts, infrastructure projects, and public works concessions, Riquelme has also excelled in arbitration and litigation, representing clients in high-profile national and international disputes. He currently serves as the head of the Chilean Society of Construction Law and has been recognized by prestigious international legal directories for his leadership in the field.
Riquelme’s academic credentials include a Law Degree and a Master’s Degree with special mention in Public Law from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, along with postgraduate qualifications from Universidad de Salamanca and Universidad de Los Andes. Before joining Garrigues, he held senior roles at Chadwick & Reymond and Reymond & Fleischmann and co-founded Riquelme & Silva. He is also an active professor of construction law at several Chilean universities and an arbitrator at the Santiago Arbitration and Mediation Center.
Camilo Silva is an expert in engineering and construction law negotiation, infrastructure development, mining projects, and dispute resolution. Silva holds a Law Degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master’s Degree in Construction Law from the University of Melbourne, where he was awarded the Melbourne Graduate Scholarship. Previously, he served as principal legal advisor to Salfacorp’s vice president of construction and co-founded Riquelme & Silva.
