Garrigues incorporates Karen Werner as a partner
Garrigues has announced the incorporation of Karen Werner (pictured) in Santiago de Chile as partner in charge of the Dispute Resolution practice: Litigation and Arbitration practice.
Karen has 16 years of experience advising companies and institutions in local and international litigation and arbitration in sectors such as energy, mining, infrastructure, construction, financial services and real estate, amongst others.
She holds a law degree (magna cum laude) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile and a Master of Laws degree from Columbia Law School. She is an arbitrator at the Arbitration and Mediation Centre of the Santiago de Chile Chamber of Commerce and has worked at several Chilean law firms before joining Garrigues.
As for her teaching activity, she has collaborated with various institutions, such as the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, as an assistant professor in the Constitutional Law Department, and the Universidad de Los Andes, as an assistant professor in the Procedural Law Department. Werner is also a member of the Women Lawyers Committee of the Chilean Bar Association.
Prior to joining the firm, she was a partner and later managing partner of Bofill Mir & Álvarez Jana and Jana & Gil. She also worked at Gutiérrez Waugh Jimeno & Asenjo Abogados, Carey, Cariola Díez Pérez-Cotapos and Covington & Burling.
