GC represents Fasanara in financing for Plata
Gonzalez Calvillo has represented Fasanara Capital, as lender, in the USD $100,000,000.00 structured financing granted to Plata, an innovative financial company in Mexico in the Fintech sector.
The financing, among others, will be used by Plata to finance the origination of its credit card loans in Mexico.
This transaction closed on 29 April and involved the jurisdictions of Mexico and the United Kingdom. Clifford Chance advised Plata in the UK; while Mijares Angoitia Cortes y Fuentes (MACF), and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom acted as advisors to Plata, in Mexico and the UK, respectively.
This matter represents the continued and compelling increase in interest from both foreign and domestic funds in the thriving structured finance sector, particularly those related to Mexican Fintech companies. This trend not only underscores the dynamism of the Mexican financial market, but also shows fascinating alternatives to conventional financing avenues.
The consultancy involved the structuring of the deal, which required adjusting and matching different concepts of foreign law within the legal framework of the transaction. In addition, complex contractual agreements were established between all parties to document their relationship.
Fasanara Capital is a leading institutional asset manager and pioneer in financial technology investment based in the UK.
