GICSA brings in Capital Markets Legal Veteran to its Financing Transactions department

Former Nader, Hayaux & Goebel counsel joins company’s growing in-house team as it takes on complex real estate and securities work Body: Grupo GICSA has appointed José Manuel Zavala Barrenechea (pictured) as head of legal for capital markets and financing, signaling a strategic expansion of its internal legal capabilities into some of the most technically demanding areas of real estate law.

Zavala Barrenechea brings seasoned expertise from Nader, Hayaux & Goebel, one of Mexico’s premier finance and capital markets firms, where he served as Of Counsel. His move in-house reflects a broader trend of sophisticated legal talent shifting from elite private practice to institutional corporate roles. He holds a law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana, Ciudad de México.

The appointment comes as GICSA’s legal team takes on an increasingly prominent role in high-complexity transactions. Three recent deals illustrate the team’s growing reach: real estate refinancings, syndicated credit facilities, institutional lending arrangements, and public securities processes — a portfolio of work that once would have been routed almost exclusively to outside counsel.
